Crossroads Academy is proud to bring you the Hockey Academy. The Hockey Academy offers students the opportunity to train year round with Paddy Flynn while attending classes at Crossroads Academy.
This is an opportunity for young students-athletes to train year round and learn the finer techniques of hockey. Players will spend the mornings together on-ice at the St. Margaret's Centre. These sessions will consist of both on and off- ice time, training, as well as hockey specific cross-training exercises. Upon returning to Crossroads Academy, students will work on all of the school subjects outlined in the Crossroads Academy curriculum.
The Hockey Academy will follow the Academy's year beginning in September and ending in June. There will be a total of 114 on-ice practice sessions that will deliver more than 150 hours of on-ice instruction. The days not spent training on-ice will be reserved for off-ice conditioning and classroom sessions.
Target Hockey Academy
Focus will be on the fundamental programming that will provide each participant with the opportunity to truly improve their individual abilities, education, knowledge of the game and total enjoyment of hockey. These are the key focal points that
are the essence of hockey development.
The Hockey Academy will be directed by the Owner and Program Director, Developer of Target Hockey Academy Ltd., Paddy Flynn. Paddy brings extensive hockey development experience and a staff of consultants and instructors that will on a weekly basis push the continued growth of each participant.
Recognizing the need for continued athletic education, our mission is to dedicate our efforts to advancing the hockey abilities of our players. Together with the education at Crossroads Academy the benefits for today's youth will be an opportunity to see excel both athletically and academically.
Ideal candidates for this program are young athletes who are seeking challenges found beyond those presented in the public school system and in minor hockey. We are looking to enroll student athletes who have the focus and drive to accept challenges and the desire to conquer them.

The Hockey Academy prides itself on offering the most comprehensive skill development program to it's student athletes. The On-Ice component will cover all aspects of being a complete hockey player.
The On-Ice session will include the following components:

Off- Ice Training
In order for hockey players to improve their on-ice skills, they must take time away from the rink to develop sport-specific skills that will transform their physical and mental abilities. This type of training is done with the mind set of developing better-conditioned athletes.
As a team, our athletes will undergo a progressive training routine that will be comprised of the following components:
Warm-up- to prepare the body for the work ahead
Balance- to aid in neuromuscular development
Agility / Mobility- to enhance reaction time
Speed- to improve the efficiency of the mind - muscle connection
Power- to maximize muscle recruitment
Strength- to develop repetitive muscle recruitment
Endurance- to aid in recovery time
Flexibility / Cool Down- to enhance athleticism and promote recovery
The exercises and drills that will be used to develop the above mentioned components will be applicable to many sports other than hockey.
Classroom Sessions
Partnered with the conditioning aspect of the off-ice training will be educational classroom sessions that will foster the mental development of our athletes. Some of the topics that will be included in our classroom sessions are:
Goal Setting
Nutrition
